At Owen White Catlin, we appreciate the distress that disputes concerning financial support for children causes and will utilise our experience and resolute approach to conflict resolution to ensure the outcome is most beneficial to your child.

Child maintenance is paid by the parent with whom the child does not reside most of the time. We appreciate the tension that child maintenance often causes and will answer your queries honestly to ensure you can move forward confidently.

The Child Maintenance Service (CMS) primarily deals with maintenance decisions, and we will advise you on how best to respond if you are unhappy with their assessment, if your co-parent’s means falls outside of the CMS criteria, or if further financial support is required for schooling.

Financial disputes don’t have to be fought in the courts. We are members of Resolution, and as part of our commitment to helping clients achieve a ‘better’ divorce, we encourage less confrontational routes to resolution than the court can provide.

Alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation, will be considered and offers a quicker, more cost-effective and constructive way of agreeing arrangements for the future, which can be particularly helpful where children are involved. We offer mediation and our mediators are registered with both Resolution and the Family Mediation Council.
