Kate Pambos – Senior Associate, Wills and Probate
Kate is a Senior Associate in the Wills and Probate department. She began her career with Owen White Catlin as a Paralegal in 2016 and was soon after offered a training contract. Kate has been with the firm throughout her legal career, working hard to celebrate great successes and achievements along the way.
Qualifying in 2018, Kate describes how she discovered which area of law in which she wanted to progress her career:
“Funnily enough, when I was reading law at university, private client was not the area of law in which I planned to specialise. However, as many trainees soon realise, the law is very different in practice. After a training seat in the Wills and Probate department, I decided that it was the area that most interested me and was most suited to my skillset. Having varied seats during your training contract is key to discovering the area of law in which you wish to progress your career and in which you will thrive.”
Day to day, Kate assists clients with the preparation of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Administration of Estates and Trusts. Reflecting on what she loves about her job, she shares:
“My favourite thing about my work is the contact I have with my clients. We are the family solicitor for so many in our local community. I’ve supported families through so many of their milestones and big life events – getting married, having children, grandchildren, preparing for their future – and building these strong and lasting relationships is incredibly rewarding. It’s a wonderful part of my work. Some clients are often making difficult decisions or undergoing challenging periods in their lives and I take great pride in supporting them and providing sound legal advice to ensure that they meet their objectives.”
So what is it about OWC that has had Kate stay with the firm throughout her career? Kate describes what it’s like to work here:
“There is an open-door policy at OWC and the sharing of ideas and opinions is always welcome. Each of our offices has a warm and friendly atmosphere and is a place where staff feel supported and are given the opportunity to excel in their chosen field.”
OWC’s strong standing locally is also something Kate holds great value in:
“OWC is a long-established firm, having celebrated our centenary in recent years, so we have a really strong reputation and connection with our local community. This really resonates with our clients – they know they can put their trust in us and that we will provide them with a professional and reliable service.”
