Ed Steele – Partner
Ed joined Owen White Catlin in 2009 as a Paralegal. Soon after, he qualified as a solicitor at the firm, training in property, private client and crime. After a short time of doing criminal law, followed by 5 years within the litigation department, Ed found his specialism in residential and commercial property law. Ed then went on to become a Partner in 2023.
Throughout his career, Ed has developed his expertise in residential conveyancing, notably high value and complex transactions. He comments:
“Contentious work just wasn’t for me, but it was a great experience and learning curve. I definitely prefer transactional work, with more of a structure to it. There’s something satisfying in following a process through and getting something at the end of it for your client. Not only that but I enjoy the learning aspect of the job and developing my knowledge academically. I’m always happy to throw myself into something new.”
Ed’s appetite to broaden his knowledge has enabled him to develop new skills and expertise. In addition to his work with residential property, Ed also provides legal support to local businesses. He has specialist knowledge in commercial conveyancing, whether the property be a warehouse, retail or office space. Moreover, he also offers support to businesses in areas of corporate and commercial law such as buying and selling businesses.7
Reflecting on his enjoyment of the job, Ed states:
“I enjoy my work when there is more contact with the client. To see your work progress someone’s life or business in such a positive way provides real job satisfaction. To see a client happy in their new home, or see their new business venture succeed, is a great part of the work I do.”
Having worked at OWC for the past 14 years, Ed shares:
“It’s the people that make OWC a great place to work. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and the support they offer is genuine. Not every law firm offers a working environment like ours and it’s one I’m proud to be a part of.”
